Microphone access is blocked
In a browser, allow Microphone in this site’s permission settings. On mobile, also check the browser’s microphone permission in device settings. In the installed app, find Violin Spark in device settings and enable Microphone access. Open Tuner and try again.
Microphone detection requires a secure website connection (HTTPS) or a local development address. If another app is using your microphone, close it and try again.
Read note by note
Use the arrows to move through the score. Microphone practice and games are unavailable in this version.
A sound will not load
Open the sound warning beside the sound selector and choose Retry. If it offers Clear & retry, use that to download damaged sample files again. Check your connection if the selected sound needs a download. You can also select another sound.
A score will not open
Violin Spark supports MusicXML (.musicxml or .xml), compressed MusicXML (.mxl), MIDI (.mid or .midi), and the Violin Spark score Markdown format (.md). General Markdown documents and scanned sheet-music images are not score formats. For MIDI files, choose the melody track in the track picker.
Fingering guides look different from my teacher’s
Automatic guides are suggestions for violin 1st position with standard tuning and often use open strings. Your teacher may choose different strings or positions. Instructions included in a MusicXML score take priority over automatic fingerings. Hide Fingers if you prefer to follow the original notation.
